  • This last weekend and such...

Hello everyone! So Dal texted me today and said, "it's been a while since you've blogged"...been almost 3 weeks! So I decided to get on it and update all of you with what's been going on in our neck of the woods!

This past weekend was quite full. It all started on Saturday. Saturday night we played at KTUB (Kirkland Teen Union Building) aka, "kay tub" aka "Kirkland Teen Center", and I'm sure many other names. We played for a benefit show for the Cacoon House, alongside bands like Madison Drive, City in the Sea, and Hot Donna. The other bands were all great. We just want to send out a special shout out and thanks to Heather and Rachel for putting the event on. We had a blast!

AND THEN that same night, after we played, we had to pack up as quick as possible and drive out to Richland, WA (it's one of the Tri-Cities in Eastern Washington, about 4 hrs away!) because we had another show to play that Sunday morning at 9:30 AM. This show was for the student leadership conference, WASC 2008. This was way bigger and better than we expected. Shout out to Rance and Susan and the kids who brought us there for having us! We step on stage and start setting up, and everyone is telling us, "these kids are crazy" and "there's a lot of them". To add to that hype and expectation, our sound check was not going as well as we hoped. Things just were not working right, it seemed like the sound board was wired wrong, or something. Anyways, we are about to go on, they are introducing us, and the curtain is closed. As soon as we get going, running off of 3 hours of sleep, the curtain opens, and I turn around, and I just see this sea of people! It was crazy! We had no idea that there were going to be this many kids there! I remember getting really excited and throwing my hat our into the crowd. My gf got me that hat, she was upset that I did that. I miss that hat. So hey, if you're reading this, and you have it, treasure it! I went through a tough time for you! haha! Here, check out some of these pics taken by Rob's (our drummer) little bro, David, from Rob's Iphone...

Anyways, to play in front of that many kids was a real treat for us. Every one of them were great. Super nice, great to talk to, and super supportive as well. Shout out to everyone who was at WASC! We love you! Once we finished packing, Chris had to jet off and get to the West Side of the state asap before church started. It was awesome during the show though, since it was his bday that day, we got the whole crowd singing happy bday for him and the coordinator Susan. Now that was hilarious.

Once we were able to get out of there, it was time to head to Wapato where Rob is from. We had the amazing opportunity to eat at his sister's house and have REAL mexican tacos. Oh my. If you haven't had greasy, real, tacos, then you are deprived of one of the greatest things of this earth. If you haven't had a real one, then go out and get one now.

Shortly after we filled out bellys, and watched the Seahawks get massacred, it was time to head to the other side of the Cascade Mts because in a few hours, we had to lead worship at my home church for their night service. It was nuts, we got there just in time for practice.

So we did have a good weekend. It was a lot, but it definitely was well spent. Rob and his wife and kids got to see his family that he hasn't for some time, and we just had a blast hanging out and doing what we love to do; play music and encourage.

PS, on a side note, we did shoot the music video last week, well, a lot of it, and now up next is the story side to be filmed, and then the post work begins, which is also the waiting game, haha. So please be patient! We did see some footage, and as April and Monteze can agree with us, it looks way better than we expected! Thanks for the support!

  • Music Video!!!!

Hey everyone! Travis here again with a new update with what's been going on with us..

So for the past month we have been planning our very first music video. You might have seen mention of this on our myspace (myspace.com/newheightsmusic). We were asking for your ideas on the concept of the video, and many of you had amazing thoughts and ideas! As you know, we will pick the best idea that fits us, and the winner of the contest will recieve a free t-shirt and Worlds EP! Thank you everyone who entered! All of your ideas were great, we appreciate your support and help in contributing to an event this important to us!

Well we are happy to announce the winner of the contest! Her name is Sue Smith! The concept of the video is great. It really fits the song lyrics well. Like I said, we have been meeting for the past month with the director. A lot of different shot ideas and other things have been discussed. It's been a lot of fun so far, and we are so excited to see the finished project. (I know you are too, haha!) Filming starts next weekend, and will continue for the next few until we are finished. Make sure you keep on checking back to our myspace and blogs because we will be posting up "behind the scenes" footage as the shootings take place!

It's going to be a lot of fun, and you're all a part of our very first music video experience ever!

  • This Past Weekend!

Hey everyone, sorry we haven't blogged in a little while. It's been crazy, this past weekend has had some major events packed into it, so I'm going to try and let you know of all that happened in this one blog...So the first part of the week started off with the Car Toys sponsored Go Green Event on Friday at noon. It was held at the Commons Mall in our home town of Federal Way. The day was gorgeous! If you were in WA last Friday, you know what I'm talking about. We just want to thank our good friend, Andrea, for letting us and our friends Push Push Pull play! (They actually just had their CD release show in Orangevale, CA with local fav's, Daphne Loves Derby. Check out their new music at myspace.com/pushpushpull)Here are some pics  from the event (courtesy of Jason Myung).

The next day (Saturday Aug 16th) was freedom fest. You can check out a video that our friend Gary (Push Push Pull) was able to take from our performance. Hope you enjoy it...So the rest of that night was a blast. We got to eat bomb food (ribs) and hang and meet some bands like Worth Dying For, This Providence, This Beautiful Republic, and MOI.

Soon after that, the next day was the annual summer Foursquare Retreat held at Lake Retreat center in Ravensdale, WA. Now that was a lot of fun. The kids were super supportive. We were only able to do one song, and we were without rhythm section (drummer) that night, however we were able to grab the support of a lot of kids there. The highs school kids really made us feel welcome and at home, and gave us the love.

Then...two days later we were allowed to play a full on show for the same camp, except junior highers this time. Now those kids are loud and full of energy. I remember when I was that young, it seems like it was forever and a day ago, haha. It was great. We had the chance, after the show when all the kids went off to bed, to hang out with some of them for the "electric" game. I wont explain the whole thing, but it was definitely a lot of fun. (my team won! 1A, wooo!!)

So as you can see it's been quite the summer for us so far. We are so happy that these opportunities keep on coming up. We are so blessed and thankful for all the support of everyone that we've come in contact to. A lot of times I feel like I take for granted the blessings that we receive from Christ. It's so easy to get entrapped in your own agenda that you forget whose plans you're living for. We need to really learn to take a breath of fresh air and let our counselor remind us of what we're doing. Until next time friends!

  • We Want Your Ideas for a Music Video!

Who wants a music video? No one? It doesn't matter we're still going to make it.

We're very excited to work on our very first music video and we need your help! We want to hear your ideas on a story line for 'Silver Lines to Palm Trees', and from all of the submissions we will choose the concept we like the best and have it incorporated into the video. And to make it worth your time, the winner will get the new 'Worlds EP', T-shirt of their choice, and the chance to be in the music video (only for those in the greater Seattle area, sorry).

Filming will begin September so hurry and think of some ideas and email them over to us at newheightsmusic1@gmail.com

    Cool beans.
